Born in Germany, Martin Kaymer is a top golfer having won eleven trophies on the European Tour and been ranked at the top of the rankings for eight weeks in 2011. He is also the winner of two major championships during his short time as a professional as well.
Born in the Dusseldorf region of Germany, Kaymer showed an aptitude for golf from a very young age and it hardly came as a surprise when he decided to turn professional at the relatively young age of 20 in 2005.
He quickly became a member of the European Tour and began to display his talents as a golfer in those early days as he climbed his way up to the top of the rankings slowly and steadily. The best season that Martin Kaymer had was in 2010 when he won four tournaments, including the US PGA Championship and the Race to Dubai, previously known as the Order of Merit.
His win at the US PGA Championship also made him the first German since the great Bernhard Langer to win a major title. That same year, he secured the World Golf Championship – HSBC Champions, thus becoming only the tenth player in history to manage the unique feat of winning a World Golf Championship as well as a major event in the same calendar year.
The following year, he climbed to the top of the Official Golf World Rankings but only managed to stay there for eight weeks before he was toppled.
Martin Kaymer went on to secure the second of his major titles in 2014 when he led from beginning to end to win the US Open in what has been described as one of the most flawless golf played by anyone in years at the famous event in the States.
